An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a visionary, ambitious and creative individual, who is skilled in school leadership and wants to play a pivotal role in a leadership structure that aspires to be the very best.   Vyners School is looking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher to work alongside the experienced senior leadership team to continue the school’s journey of sustained improvement.  The post would suit an energetic and enthusiastic leader with a strong track record of raising achievement who would like the opportunity to join a dynamic and forward thinking team.

This is a key position within the school and will suit a professional who has a deep knowledge of effective classroom practice coupled with a clear vision and a proven track record of raising standards. The successful candidate will be an excellent practitioner, able to lead by example, and will possess a significant background of strong leadership within a secondary school.  We welcome applications from candidates who are able to demonstrate that they are deeply ambitious for students and staff, with the ability to provide strategic direction which improves student outcomes.

Vyners is a very popular and oversubscribed mixed eight form entry, 11-18 comprehensive school, situated in a pleasant residential area in North West London, bordering Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.    We have a track record of real success at all Key Stages.  In 2024, 81% of students achieved grades 9-4 in both English and Maths at GCSE and we are consistently ranked in the top 10% of all schools nationally for progress measures and attainment.   At A-Level 26% of all grades were A* - A and 50% A* - B.   The school converted to academy status on 1 November 2011 and is part of the Vanguard Learning Trust which also includes one other secondary and three primary schools.

We are well known for high academic standards, good behaviour, and our strong community spirit including a strong house system with students leading their peers.  Pupils benefit from excellent relationships with each other and with staff.  They are well cared for and have adults they trust and who they can talk to if they have problems”  (Ofsted, 2025).   Many students are involved in extracurricular sport, music and drama, performing at a high level including prestigious public events and performing in our own school productions.
