Learning Resource Centre

The LRC may be utilised at break, lunch and after school by students. It is also a popular private study space for Sixth Form students.

The LRC offers a wide range of resources and equipment to help enhance lessons.

Books

The LRC currently holds a wide range of fiction and reference books. We cover all sorts of topics, from the Guinness Book of Records to Shakespeare, Cookery to World War II.  Students are welcome to come into the LRC to use any of the reference material. Books may be taken away for students to read in their own time.

Computers

The LRC has 7 computers. During the day, these are available to Sixth Form students for private study.  Other students may use the computers on a first come, first served basis at break, lunch and after school.

Homework club

We are delighted to be able to welcome our students to the LRC as a space to use after-school to do their homework.  Students who might not have anywhere suitable at home in which to study or may prefer to work in school, may wish to utilise the reference materials on offer.  All are welcome! The LRC is open from 3pm - 4.30pm Monday - Thursday.  Mr Hill will be on hand to assist any students who need assistance with their home learning.

Printing and Photocopying

The dedicated student printers are located in the LRC. Students may print out work at break, lunch and after school and are given a £2 free 'print allowance' to allow them to do this.  A simple print release station in the LRC enables students to send their own jobs to print, and have them charged to their account.

Students can print in both black & white and colour. Once the allowance is exhausted, extra copies must be purchased by parents via the sQuidcard cashless payment system.  Used wisely, we do not anticipate that students should need to purchase any extra copies.  I would encourage you to have a conversation with your child, however, about the importance of not wasting their allowance.

In giving them access to the print release station, students are trusted to operate school equipment in a mature way.  Misuse of any of the equipment will be managed in line with the School’s Rewards and Consequences Policy.
